安土桃山時代に京都の絹物商として創業。当時の顧客でありました、近江の蒲生氏郷公が会津若松にお国替えの際にお供し、その後、漆器業に転向、蒲生公が、千利休の七哲でしたので、お茶席に使用する茶道具の製作を行っておりました。その後、東インド会社との貿易を行ったりと国内外で広く販売しており、昭和九年に仙台へ漆器の指導者として、招聘され、現在に至っております。現在は、アヴァンギャルドデザインのプロダクトとして、ニューヨークやパリの美術館で展示され、多くの美術館のコレクションになっており、世界中のコレクターにご愛用いただいております。

Founded in Kyoto during the Azuchi-Momoyama period as a silk merchant, the company accompanied one of its customers, Lord Gamo Ujisato of Omi, on his exile to Aizu-Wakamatsu. The company then switched to lacquerware production, and as Lord Gamo was one of Sen no Rikyu's Seven Philosophers, the company produced tea utensils for use at tea ceremonies. The company then began trading with the East India Company and sold its products widely both domestically and internationally. In 1934, the company was invited to Sendai as a lacquerware instructor, where it continues to this day. Today, its avant-garde design products are exhibited in museums in New York and Paris, are part of numerous museum collections, and are beloved by collectors worldwide.
